Options
The Ford F-150 has a robust engine lineup with six powertrain options, and four churn out over 500 pound-feet of torque. The six-engine lineup is more than the truck competition, as the Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado only offer four engines.
Base Power
The base TurboMax™ engine on the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 may deliver 430 pound-feet of torque, but the 310-horsepower output is 15 horsepower behind the F-150 with Ford's base EcoBoost® V6 engine. The base Pentastar® V6 engine powering the Ram 1500 is rated for 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque; both figures are considerably behind the F-150.
V8 Power
The HEMI® V8 engine in the Ram 1500 delivers 395 horsepower. The Ford F-150 has a heartier V8 engine rated for 400 horsepower. There are two V8 engines for the Silverado 1500. The 6.2-liter unit is rated for 420 horsepower, but the 5.3-liter unit only delivers 355 horsepower.
Additional Powertrains
The Chevy Silverado 1500 can work with the Duramax® Turbo-Diesel engine, but its torque value of 495 pound-feet cannot match the 640 pound-feet of best-in-class torque churned out by the Ford F-150 with its 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine - a class-exclusive powertrain. The supercharged V8 F-150 delivers 720 max horsepower, beating out the 540 max horsepower of the high output Hurricane engine for the Ram 1500. Ram's core Hurricane engine delivers 420 horsepower. The secondary EcoBoost® V6 engine for the Ford F-150 produces 450 horsepower. Ford F-150 trucks with the primary 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine deliver 400 horsepower to muscle past the initial V8-powered Silverado. The Ford F-150 even offers a PowerBoost® Full Hybrid V6 engine producing 430 horsepower.

Tow up to 13,500 pounds with the Ford F-150. The Ram 1500 maxes out at 11,610 pounds of towing, and V8 towing peaks at 11,320 pounds. A V8-powered F-150 can tow 12,800 pounds. Chevy Silverado 1500 trucks have a max towing capacity of 13,300 pounds.
Are you moving heavy materials around town? Trust the Ford F-150 and the truck's best-in-class maximum payload rating of 2,440 pounds, courtesy of the EcoBoost® V6 engine. Even the V8 payload rating of the F-150 reaches 2,235 pounds. The max payload ratings of the Ram 1500 and Chevy Silverado 1500 are 80 pounds and 180 pounds, respectively, behind the Ford F-150.
Technology
Tow your boat or camper hands-free on major Ohio highways with a BlueCruise-equipped Ford F-150 truck. Super Cruise® is the comparable hands-free driving technology in the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Hands-Free Active Driving Assist in the Ram 1500 is not a name brand system. The Chevy Silverado may offer up to 14 camera views, but the F-150 has multiple trailer assists so you can hitch with ease and tow with confidence. New Ford F-150 trucks can come with Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ and Pro Trailer Hitch Assist™. The Ram 1500 is lacking such advanced trailering features.
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trucks feature Google built-in connectivity and a 13.4-inch diagonal touchscreen. New Ford F-150 trucks are equipped with a 12-inch center display and SYNC® 4, which can include Connected Navigation. The Ram 1500 offers a Uconnect® 5 touchscreen as large as 14.5 inches, along with a 12-inch digital cluster display. The Ford F-150 matches this with a 12-inch productivity screen in the digital cluster. The Silverado 1500 has a Driver Information Center of the same size.
Utility
The Silverado 1500 may have more cargo bed volume, but Chevrolet's truck lacks having electrical power at the ready. The Ford F-150 offers the class-exclusive Pro Power Onboard™, which powers all of your essentials with up to 7.2 kW of electric power. The Chevy Silverado 1500 has a six-function Multi-Flex Tailgate, but the Pro Access Tailgate of the Ford F-150 gives truck owners the freedom to swing the tailgate out a full 100 degrees, pushing them up to 19 inches closer to their cargo. The Ram 1500 cannot match the F-150 in utility features.
Configurations
The new Ford F-150 is available in SuperCrew®, SuperCab, and Regular Cab configurations. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 offers Crew Cab, Double Cab, and Regular Cab options. The Ram 1500 only offers Quad Cab and Crew Cab styles.
